Canon: Guns and Stamps
Name: Martina M. Mayakovskaya
Age: no canon age, I generally assume 20.
Canon info: Guns & Stamps is a wartime black comedy and alt history manga. It follows the adventures of Martina, a new officer in the Grand Duchy Army's Second Supply Company. Despite being a logistics corps pencil-pusher her bureaucratic zeal and the author's surreal sense of humor tend to get her into various bizarre adventures, mostly dealing with incredible amounts of corruption or incompetence.
Based on technology the setting seems to be roughly equivalent to 1960s. The POD for the AH is unknown but the effects that concern the narrative are that the Grand Duchy of Moscow never expanded westward and formed the Russian Empire, so that Lithuania remains the dominant eastern and central European power. At the time the manga takes place in they are allied against the Republic, a dictatorship formed from the Ottoman Empire. The countries are never named in the text and are referred to only as 'The Grand Duchy' for Moscow, 'The Empire' for Poland-Lithuania, and 'The Republic' for the post-Ottoman state. The other major power is The Kingdom, which unlike the other three is never identified by city names or maps. It is sometimes speculated to be a combined French-British monarchy that never split.
Martina is extremely motivated and a stickler for the rules, which are dangerous things to be when interacting with corrupt army officers and double-dealing insurgents.
